محمد ارسلان جو کے ایک چیف منسٹر کا اک لوتا بیٹا ہے وہ کئی سال بعد ہندوستان واپس آیا اور اسکے آنے کی وجہ اُسکے والد کا اچانک کسی بیماری کے سبب کوما میں چلے جانا تھا.
وہ نہایت غیر ذمےدار اور بگڑا ہوا تھا. جو لوگ اُسے جانتے, اسکو سنکی,سر پھرا کہتے کیونکہ اُسکی حرکتیں اُسکی اپنی خواہش کے مطابق ہوتی نا کے عقل اور سمجھ کی بنیاد پر. اسکو کسی کا کوئی خوف نہیں تھا بلکہ وہ کہتا کے اُسے موت کا بھی کوئی خوف نہیں. یہ بات حقیقت تھی کے جو لوگ اسکو جانتے تھے وہ اُس سے ڈرتے تھے.
اُسے بس اپنی عیش و عشرت کی زندگی سے محبت تھی. اُسکے نہ چاہتے ہوئے بھی اُسے اپنے والد کی جگہ ہنگامی حالات کے پیشِ نظر تخت نشین ہونا پڑا. لیکن اس فیصلے کی اُسکی اپنی وجوہات اپنی لالچ تھی.
اُسے ایک نیک لڑکی مریم سے محبت ہو گئی تھی یہ بات کافی حد تک صحیح ہے کے برے کو بھی اچھےاوراچھوں کو بھی اچھے لوگ اچھے لگتے ہیں. لیکن ارسلان کے اللّٰہ کی طرف رجوع ہونے کی وجہہ کوئی اور ہے اور مریم کی زندگی کے کئی راز اور کئی پہلو ہیں جو ارسلان کے لئے ایک پہیلی بن چکی تھی.
