  1. Rating – 5/5
5/5 totally deserved! Writer ka style next level tha, aur dosti jaise pure rishtay ko itne khoobsurat tareeke se dikhaya gaya — full marks! Kahani bilkul hatke thi, real feels wali, not some overused plot 👏🫶”

I read this novelette tonight. Loved the writing style. Loved the way how the writer made me smile and laugh just through his words.

As for the plot, it wad unusual, kind of new. The friendship of two deeply intertwined friends, their good, and bad times together. Their laughs, and mischief that made me enjoy nearly as much as they did.
Overall the plot was okay. I do have some insights that I’d be sharing below the spoiler warning.

    The Characters:
I loved Rio, although he wasn’t the main character of this story and had a short page time.
I liked the character of Shahzeb, and his easy going personality. His actions made me think if this is what we call as being alive.
I liked the character of Ayaan.
Each character was written well, I just didn’t get attached to any of the characters that much, probably because it was a short read that I finished within an hour, or because I could see some conflict of thoughts.

    Quotes:
I loved some quotes. Those are totally edits worthy quotes.
And not to mention the weather. I love winters, and it was described so thoroughly I was practically living in that weather.

Overall, it’s a short and enjoyable read. It even made me weep a little. The heartache was there too, of course.

I’d love the story better if:
    ** Spoiler Warning ⚠ **

Shahzaib clearly ignored his best friend Ayaan after meeting the girl, Samahir, and yet he was justified in the end.
Shahzaib claimed to know Ayaan, and yet he didn’t budge or care one bit when Ayaan clearly showed his annoyance, and anger, and then disappeared from his story.
Shahzaib loved Samahir so much that he forgot that he has a best friend whom he calls his brother, and yet refused to fight for her, and go get her when he could, all because she gave in to her family? Kya mohabbat itni asani se dastbardar ho jati hai? Khatm ho jati hai?
Shahzaib played a victim card in the end, when he should’ve been apologizing to Ayaan for EVERYTHING. It doesn’t matter if he changed, or grew some conscience after being separated and paid him back for every penny that he spent or lent him, he still had to apologize. His knowing of Ayaan didn’t matter either, kyunki aisa janna kis kam ka jisme sirf janna hi ho? I mean, his actions were every bit against what Ayaan wanted. and he just wanted his best friend to spend some time with him as well. Shahzaib even dragged the issue of the car which was never the real issue. His actions were, and I don’t think he understood fact even in the end.
He came back to Ayaan AFTER he lost the girl. He didn’t come earlier. HE DIDN’T COME EARLIER. Period.
I could understand Ayaan. Wo bechara dosti ka mara tha, but he felt a bit too obsessed with Shahzaib. That’s unusual, but not unreal. It CAN happen. It just annoyed me sometimes because I wanted him to move on.
Ayaan was only in the wrong when he didn’t talk clearly to Shahzaib about how he felt like they were no longer friends after Samahir came in between. He should’ve talked to him at least once, that he doesn’t want him to spend 24/7 with him, but also not neglect him like he doesn’t even exist. But he never did, and went back to his cocoon of silence, and solitude. Apart from this, he did nothing wrong. He saw Shahzaib for who he was. I’m not talking about the bad habits or whatever (in my eyes those were mostly just his personality), but his actions. Shahzaib did ignore him, avoid him, didn’t care for him, forgot that he exists after this girl came in his life. He WAS matlab parast. I mean, it doesn’t matter to use each other’s stuff when you’re close enough, but when a distance comes in between, no matter how close you were in the past, you can’t still act like that. But he chose to dismiss the fact, he CHOSE to pretend that Ayaan, and his sufferings due to Shahzaib’s actions were nothing at all. He claimed he knew Ayaan, so that’s the only explanation that exists. He Pretended.
And yet Ayaan thought he was wrong, and not his Zebi. When Shahzaib returned with his so called letter that mentioned nothing but all the things that he knew already, he suddenly had a change of heart? but that makes sense for the people who have so much love for their loved ones. And Shahzaib also knew it, so he manipulated him until the end.

If Ayaan existed and I could talk to him, I’d tell him ki tumhe apne zabi pe do lafz bhej kar kahani khatm kr deni chahiye. He wasn’t the angel that you made him. Neither him, nor his samahir. He didn’t deserve your friendship. So come outta this damn trauma, and love, and see him for what he is.
